A growing number of businesses in Wisconsin and around the country went cashless that year, requiring customers to pay with credit cards, debit cards or smartphones. In , the Milwaukee Bucks experimented with cashless at 11 food vendors at Fiserv Forum. This year, fans at home games have been required to order food and drinks through the Bucks app or at digital kiosks via credit, debit or gift cards, in order to reduce contact, according to an FAQ page on Fiserv Forums website. The arena has installed cash-to-card machines, which do not charge a fee or require personal information. Contactless payments are also encouraged at the ticket office, with a cash-to-card machine on site. The Milwaukee Brewers also announced it was going cashless for its food vendors and retail shops when it first welcomed fans at American Family Field in March. Starting in June, physical cash was accepted at a limited number of concession stands in the stadium. While cashless is becoming more common, theres been some pushback from government officials in Wisconsin. In August , five Republicans in the state Legislature introduced a bill requiring businesses in the state to accept cash. It failed to pass. And in April , Milwaukee Ald. Ashanti Hamilton sponsored an ordinance requiring Milwaukee retailers to accept cash , after hearing from constituents who couldnt use cash at some Fiserv Forum food vendors and businesses in the Deer District.
