I am an established food writer, editor, and recipe developer. I am currently the Editorial Director of Serious Eats, and previously the Culinary Director there. Before that I was a food editor at Food & Wine and a writer and reporter for the dining section at Time Out New York. I have won many awards in my career and have helped shepherd the publication Serious Eats through many eras of its existence while always keeping the brand’s quality, depth, and uniqueness high. I have overseen digital issues, special print issues, and countless packages and individual articles and recipes.
I am known for my thoughtful and rigorous approach to food and cooking that blends a deep understanding of technique, food science, and empirical testing with deep respect for culture and history. I understand how to meld the subjective nature of taste and preference with the more concrete scientific aspects of cooking while paying respect to both. I also know how to communicate complex technical ideas in a way that’s easy to understand and fun to read. I bring a tremendous amount of knowledge and authority as both a culinary expert, reporter and journalist, and brand leader and manager to my work.
